Your tasks:
- Lead and develop a team of data scientists, fostering a culture of curiosity, collaboration, and impact
- Design and implement new data products to support content personalization, audience segmentation, and churn prediction
- Oversee end-to-end model lifecycle - from ideation and experimentation to deployment and monitoring
- Collaborate closely with Product, Editorial and Marketing teams to translate business objectives into data-driven solutions
- Carrying out more complex analyses including preparation and presentation of the results
- Promote best practices in data science, including code quality, experimentation, and reproducibility
- Contribute to the broader data strategy, helping shape the evolution of NZZ's data and AI capabilities
Your profile:
- Master's degree in a quantitative discipline (computer science, mathematics, statistics, physics, etc.)
- 5+ years of experience in data science, with at least 2 years in a leadership or mentoring role
- Strong theoretical and practical know-how in statistics, machine learning and natural language processing
- Excellent understanding of experimental design, A/B testing, and data-driven decision-making
- Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including Vertex AI
- Strong programming skills in Python and SQL
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Must have: very good knowledge of English, nice to have: knowledge of German
